-Week 8-
Progress made this week
Following the Critical Design Review, we began working towards the final deliverable of our project. Those consist of two technical design sheets, one for each sub-problem, and one final design video. The steps we've taken so far:
Our Intial design of the case, this is where we started.
Base: Made from rubber
Stress Test: Using a total of 36500lbs (Our PDS goal)
First we wanted to see how the individual componets held up during the stress test to see their own specific weak points. We tried different scenarios, applying different forces at different locations to see if there was a difference. Here are a few:
Plans for the coming week
The time between now and Monday evening will be spent completing the following:
Following the Critical Design Review, we began working towards the final deliverable of our project. Those consist of two technical design sheets, one for each sub-problem, and one final design video. The steps we've taken so far:
- Created a script for the video
- Finalized our UVc Emitter model in Solidworks (upper)
- Finalized our Interior Case model in Solidworks (lower)
- Animated a video detailing how the Emitter works (bottom of page)
- Finalized the case design
- Tested different scenarios for stress
Our Intial design of the case, this is where we started.
Final interior design: Made from Polyimide
Cross section of the interrior
Exterior design: Made from polycarbonate
Cross section of the exterior
Side profile: Left side is where the interior layer will go, the right side is where the motor and battery will be placed.
Base: Made from rubber
Design with everything put together
Stress Test: Using a total of 36500lbs (Our PDS goal)
First we wanted to see how the individual componets held up during the stress test to see their own specific weak points. We tried different scenarios, applying different forces at different locations to see if there was a difference. Here are a few:
Placed the force everywhere on the system
Place the force onto the door
On the sides of the interior layer
So far the weakness is only in the hollowed out region, however putting these componets together may yield a different result which is still need to be tested.
We were able to combine the emitter arm with the case:
Cross section view with the emitter
Other angle of the full design
Plans for the coming week
The time between now and Monday evening will be spent completing the following:
- Combining the Emitter model and the Case model
- Developing the slides for our final design video
- Recording the video together as a group
- Drafting a rough and final version of each technical design sheet.
- These will be handled by the sub-groups that worked on the problems
